One notable instance is Jacob's prophecy in Bamidbar (Numbers) 24:17, where it is written, “I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; a star shall come forth out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel.” This verse connects celestial bodies to the Messianic lineage, suggesting that a star heralds significant events in the Jewish narrative, such as the arrival of the Messiah.
The Zohar, a key text in Jewish mysticism, further elaborates on the significance of stars in relation to divine providence. In the end of Parshat Balak, it states: "תְּנָן, זַמִּין קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא לְמִבְנֵי יְרוּשָׁלַםִ, וּלְאַחְזָאָה חַד כֹּכָבָא קְבִיעָא, מְנַצְּצָא בְּע' רָהֲטִין, וּבְע' זִיקִין נַהֲרִין מִנֵּיהּ בְּאֶמְצָעוּת רְקִיעַ, וְיִשְׁתָּאֲלוּן בֵּיהּ ע' כֹּכָבִין אַחֲרָנִין, וִיהֵא נָהִיר וְלָהִיט ע' יוֹמִין." On the sixth day (Friday), on the twenty-fifth day to the sixth month, the star will be seen (9/27/2024). It will be gathered on the seventh day at the ending of the seventy days. IT WILL BE COVERED AND NOT SEEN. On the first day, it will be seen in the city of Rome and, on that day, three higher walls will fall from the city of Rome, and the great palace WHICH IS THERE will fall. The head/leader of that city will die. Then that star will spread and extend to be seen in the world. During that time, great and mighty wars will be stirring in the world to all four directions, and there will be no faith among the people..
